How do we create identity and community through the parties we grew up with? What does the dance, the food mean for our memories and sense of belonging?

In collaboration with Höjden, we invite you to El Partyy Part 2, where we continue to explore the place of the Chilean and Latin American diaspora in a Nordic context.
El Partyy takes as its starting point the party as a space for storytelling - where the food we share, the dances we learn and the conversations are part of our collective memory and identity creation. This time we delve into how our experiences of parties - from clubs like La Isla, to Midsummer Latino, to house parties - have shaped our understanding of community and belonging.
**The evening begins with a pre-party, where we gather around a communal table to cook completos, eat, and share stories about what party places meant to us growing up.

How is community created through diaspora celebrations in the Nordic countries?

After the conversation, the evening continues with the physical dimension of the party. Salsa workshop (not couple dance) with invited salsa teacher and then we continue with a "Each One Teach One" session in reggaeton. Together we will create a joint choreography under the guidance of Amanda Ferrada and Macarena Dusant.

Reggaeton is a global force today, but its Afro-Caribbean roots are still invisible. With this evening, we want to highlight the political significance of reggaeton and honour its role as a collective and self-organised learning. Bring your own reggaeton move and we will teach each other.
**El Partyy Part 2 is part of an ongoing curatorial endeavour by Amanda Ferrada and Macarena Dusant, seeking to understand how the Chilean and Latin American diaspora in the North creates memory, resistance and community through the party.

The Salsa workshop is led by Pilar Anturi:
Salsa Styling workshop at 19.00, where we dance solo and move freely to the music 40 min. Don't miss the chance!

Pilar Anturi was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, with salsa rhythms in her bones. In the late 90s Pilar moved to Sweden, and today she works as a dancer and dance teacher. Pilar has participated in and won some salsa competitions/championships, for example first place at La Isla competition, Miss Reggaeton 2003.

**The evening will be documented by the artist Cristian Quinteros Soto, who will take on the role of La Tía Copuchenta.

She sits there, her eyes cutting through the music, the lights and our movements. She knows what you said, what you ate, who you danced with - and yes, she remembers that embarrassing thing you're trying to forget. Don't worry, she's here to remind us all. You know, la copuchenta que se las sabe todas. La tía Sapa is an institution at every party!

In Cristian's documentation of El Partyy Part 2, he wants to pay tribute to la tía Sapa and her gaze. The next day, she'll scroll through the footage, analyse your behaviour and tell you her version of the evening. So don't worry if your hand itches, it's just a bit of copucha.

Perhaps it is through her eyes that we can understand the party as something bigger: as a collective memory where our actions, dances and conversations are woven into a larger story of belonging and community.

So next time she points at you and laughs, remember - she is part of our archive. And in her stories, the party lives on.
